RCIA stands for Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults. It is the Catholic Church’s way of welcoming new members into the faith. It is so much more than a program. It is a journey in faith formation that meets each person where they are at on their journey. The main goal of RCIA is to lead us to a closer relationship with Jesus as we become fully initiated into the Catholic Church. We invite anyone who is interested in learning about Catholicism or renewing their Catholic faith to give the office a call at 978-663-8816 to learn more about our RCIA program.
Being part of RCIA is a beautiful opportunity for any individual who:
· Has not been baptized.
· Has been baptized, but have not received the Sacraments of First Eucharist and Confirmation.
· Wants to learn and ask questions about the Catholic Faith and grow closer to God.
Weekly sessions take place on Sunday mornings at the St. Theresa location led by a wonderful group of faith-filled parishioners. Through their guidance, those who participate gain a deeper appreciation and understanding of the Catholic faith. Participating in these sessions now will enable you to be fully initiated into the Catholic Church by receiving all of your sacraments at the Easter Vigil.
Being a Sower of Seeds:
Oftentimes, those of us who have been Catholic our whole lives don’t think to share this information with others. We may just assume that if someone is interested in pursuing the faith, that they will reach out and let us know or ask questions. However, our job as disciples is to be a sower of seeds and one way that we can do this is by extending an invitation to spouses, relatives, friends, and neighbors. They may be ready, but are not sure how to ask or take a step forwards in that direction. If they are not ready, you may still have planted that seed that will possibly grow and bloom in the future.
People to invite include:
· Those who have never been baptized as Christians.
· Those who have been baptized in another Christian faith and are now interested in the Catholic Faith.
· Those who were baptized in the Catholic Faith but did not receive First Communion, and/or Confirmation.
· Those Catholics who have been away and have questions or looking to strengthen their faith.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and find life burdensome, and I will refresh you. Take my yoke upon your shoulders and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble of heart. Your souls will find rest, for my yoke is easy and my burden light.” ~ Matthew 11:28-30
